Cyclists starting the Western Tiers Cycle Challenge

The Challenge.

The Wilson Homes Western Tiers Cycle Challenge is a fully escorted selection of social but challenging rides leaving from Prospect Vale Park,Launceston, winding through the beautiful Meander Valley, Tasmania. With five distances to choose from- from the family friendly, to the more hard-core, there is a ride option for everyone! Volunteers from New Horizons Tasmania and community partners will once again be planning and running the Challenge, with all funds raised going directly to support the organisation's inclusive sport and recreation programs.

On the day there will be:

  • FREE lunch provided for all pre-registered entrants.
  • BBQ and salad rolls available for purchase for last minute entrants and spectators.
  • The fabulous 'Coffee Devil' van onsite.
  • A prize for the best 'Retro-style' rider.
  • Water Stop at Deloraine Train Park
  • The Perpetual Trophy awarded for the Corporate/Team Challenge (most kms wins).

What does it involve?

All rides start from Prospect Vale Park Sports Ground, Harley Parade Prospect (the first departing at 8am) and pass escorted through slow country roads with a distance to suit all abilities:

  • 140 kilometre ride to Deloraine, Dairy Plains, and return.
  • 100 kilometre ride to Deloraine and return.
  • 76 kilometre ride to Westbury and return.
  • 52 kilometre ride towards Hagley and then returning via the old Bass Highway.
  • 24 kilometre ride to Carrick and return.
  • Team Corporate Challenge where the winning team is the one that completes the most kilometres in aggregate.

Entry costs $40

Online registrations close 11.59pm Friday 22nd March 2019.
People registered by this date will receive lunch when returned from the ride.
